AMD FX-6300 Vishera 3.5GHz good for gaming?

is AMD FX-6300 Vishera 3.5GHz 6 core good for gaming?
if i paired up AMD FX-6300 with AMD Radeon HD 7970 gpu would my cpu be a limitation?
It looks like a solid setup to me but im no expert.

With a decent overclock it would be OK. I would prefer an FX 8320, personally. Good luck finding a 7970 for a decent price too. The various crytpocurrency miners are snagging up high end AMD cards like mad. You would be better off getting a GTX 770 4gb.

Without any overclock, would this set up handle next gen games e.g crysis 3, bf4 with 30-60 fps on 1080p ultra settings?
I am not looking for mad resolutions or great graphics, i will be playing on one 22" monitor with only 1080p resolution.
7970's go on ebay for £270.
