Fresh member here, so long story short i decided to build myself a gaming rig rather than buying them pre-built. This will be my first attempt at building one. Spent many days researching every component's reviews, performance and price. Id like some opinions on my choices here. So far I'm confident in my choice of parts, but id like to ask the veterans here for any kind of suggestions. The "hopefully beast" rig will be used for heavy gaming, video editing, work, etc. I plan on using a tri monitor set up as well.

Without further adieu…

CPU Intel i7 4770k 3.5 GHz Quad Core
Motherboard ASUS MAXIMUS VI Formula LGA 1150
Video Card Gigabyte GeForce GTX 780 Ti
RAM Corsair Vengeance Pro 16 gb (2x8) DDR3 1600
SSD Crucial m500 240gb 2.5" SSD
HDD Seagate Barracuda 3TB 3.5"
PSU EVGA SuperNOVA 1000W p2 80+ platinum certified
CPU Cooler NZXT Kraken X60
Case NZXT Phantom 630 Black
Optical Drive LG Blu-Ray/DVD/CD Writer
Monitor ASUS VX279Q 60Hz 27.0" IPS Monitor

parts have been purchased and are on route, will be sitting on 1 GTX 780 Ti for the time being but I'm opened to the idea of adding another. I'm also waiting for all the components to arrive so i can physically map out how the internal case layout will be. afterwards i will be adding additional fans (won't do water cooling for awhile) to maximize airflow.

so… kind of intimidated since this is my first timer but being a semi mechanical guy i think i can manage somehow. I do have questions about running the trip displays tho, any vets with experience running the single gtx 780 Ti with multiple displays for gaming? i know the GPU will run up to 4 for regular tasks but since this is a gaming rig… Any input guys? i know i'll eventually take the SLI route but id like to delay that if the single GPU can handle the stress.

sorry for the long ass post, i'll keep it updated once i start building the rig. Thanks in adv boys n girls.

Great build! As far as the graphics card goes, the GTX 780 ti should be fine, that thing is an absolute beast, and it should handle 3 monitors no problem. Although, I have never used a 780 ti with three monitors, so my advice is get the parts, put it together, and if you feel you need another, order it. But don't buy it yet, since it's most likely unnecessary.

Thank you sir, parts should be arriving in the next couple of days. So far from what I've heard on different forums, the single GTX 780 Ti can run 4 monitors (3 monitors playing bf4 at 5760x3240 under mid-high settings getting 50-60 fps) i hope this is the case, but we shall see. i did figure out a semi big mistake in my choices last night tho. Turns out the monitor (asus vx 279q) i chose was a 60Hz IPS monitor, while being great for my image editing tasks, it does somewhat cap what my gnu can pump out in terms of fps. So despite having a great gnu even in SLI (in the future) i'll only be able to see 60 fps tops using this monitor.

its unfortunate but I've come to find out that 60ish fps is still accepteptable even while playing the higher demanding first person shooter games like bf4. People say that the human eye (for most eyes) can't see past 70fps, while some can tell the difference between 70 and 120 fps. Well who knows, luckily I've only got 1 of these monitors for testing, will be buying the 2nd and 3rd afterwards once the rig is set up. Not sure if i need a 120-144Hz monitor or just stick with the good ole 60Hz i got. Any input on this?
