Hi, this is my first thread and i am wondering that will you be able to give me any good advice on building my first PC. I am only 16 and have a budget of around £1300. I have choose these parts for my build:

Asus Sabertooth X79-motherboard
Intel i7 4820k-CPU
Kingston hyperX Beast 16GB (4x4GB)-RAM
Inno3D Geforce GTX 760 iChill HerculeZ 3000 2048MB-GPU
Bitfenix Colossus Venom Green LED Windowed black-Case
Corsair RM Series RM750 '80+Gold'-PSU
Microsoft Windows 8.1-OS
Corsiar Hydro H75 Liquid CPU Cooler
Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB-HHD

So if there is anything that you would change and why? as i am happy with it but i want a experienced opinion on the matter, as i want the best for the price and provide a good platform for overclocking. I am still very new to this. I will be doing game recording and playing games also processing/rendering raw video footage.

So any advice would be great and well thanked.

Many Thanks
-James

it is not too bad priced at my local shop www.Overclockers.co.uk as its only £250 odd and the motherboard you suggest was a 1150 socket and the cpu 2011

"The GPU is a weak link for gaming. What games do you hope to play and what resolution does your monitor run at? I'll work on suggestions for a more balanced build shortly."

i hope to play battlefield 4 really it might be a bit extreme but i am big into minecraft and the mods for it plus i love the shadders mod. very intensive. i am 100% sure on the monitor yet but it would be 1920X1080.

This is what I would suggest. I went with 1866MHz 2x8GB RAM, an SSD for the boot drive, a GTX 770, an 850W PSU so you can add another GPU in SLI in the future, and a better 240mm liquid cooler.

If you remove the SSD you can squeeze in a GTX 780 beast GPU.

Yeah, but the motherboard isn't the most expandable one, and it doesn't have as many features as a Gigabyte board would, and Gigabyte has a lot of features, is very expandable, and has a very good price on these boards.

very nice build i have to say but i don't really like the haswell edition don't get me wrong they are an excellent CPU but i do like the more overclocking capability of the ivybrige e CPU. Also the fact the parts are all over the place i do prefer getting them all from one place. apart from that i am looking for a SSD bootdrive and a better CPU cooler which that does offer. ill need to think about it more.

I guess that's up to you. I, personally, wouldn't go with an LGA 2011 setup. The i7 4770K will easily get up to around the 4.6GHz range with decent liquid cooling. Shopping around for components helps a lot with getting the best possible system for your money, but feel free to buy components wherever you feel most comfortable.

fair enough i will think about the 4770k as a possible choice as their prices are like £10 apart so no difference really i will definitely go with a 780 GPU and a bigger PSU for future upgrades. so coming back to the 4770k why would you recommend this better than a 4820k as i have read that the 4820k is more overclock able, but i need some better guidance. so you would recommend the 4770K

Ivy Bridge does usually overclock slightly better than Haswell. I guess it's just me, but I always like to go with the latest chips. The Haswell architecture has clock for clock speed improvements over Ivy Bridge, so even if you got the i7 4820k to 4.8GHz and the i7 4770k to 4.6GHz they would run about the same speed. The Ivy Bridge CPU may be better for bragging rights, I guess. Either way, you should be very happy with the system. It's a nice system that will run well for a long time regardless of which i7 chip you end up choosing.

I'd get the 4770k since they run at the same speed and it would probably save you a bit of money.

So, you are saying there is no real difference between them. If so thank you so much as i have been trying out to find which one is best. Now i have a straight answer. =)
