Would SATA3 work with my SATA2 motherboard

My mother board is a bit outdated. Specs show SATA 2 capabilities. right now I have a HDD and looking to move to SSD, with plans to upgrade in the future. I'm looking at Corsair Force Series, but it is SATA 3. I understand I will not get the full potential of this drive, but surely it will be better then what I have. Will it still operate at the SATA 2 speeds? I thought I saw this is SATA2 and SATA3 capability.

SATA 3 devices are backward compatible to SATA 2, you will have no problems.

And you are correct, you won't see full sequential speeds but you will still benefit from the blazing (compared to an hdd) random performance. I swear my sata2 htpc is faster than my sata3 one (both have ssd's)
