Heya,

I'm building a new gaming rig, i7 4770K and currently have a GTX 760, should I pay for the the 780 or wait the weeks (months?) until nvidia release the new high end cards on the Maxwell architecture?

(Screen resolution is 2560x1440)

I'd wait, Maxwell may have a surprise in store for high end GPU's. At 1440p a GTX 780 will do well, but the way games are heading not for too long if you wanted to max out everything. If you wanted this GPU to last 2 years without an upgrade, I'd seriously wait for maxwell.

the 760 will do just fine for the meantime, so it is worth the wait.

If you are playing demanding games @ 1440p, I suggest you go with the 780 ti if you decide to upgrade right now.

I upgraded from a 780 to a 780 ti because a 780 wasn't enough for me. If you have the patience, waiting for Maxwell is a good idea however you will probably be waiting for over 6 months for the 20 nm flagship cards.

Well its look very nice & great monitor bro (Samsung LTM270DL02 PLS),your GFX would be capable & handle that resolution (for play games in full HD reso) 2560 x,The GTX780 is a "Monster", it would be "more" than an 760. eitherwise the 780 (if you buy the Ti version), the review & benchmark result shows that
Quote:
"It's quicker than 290X ",(probably you should chek this link) @ http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/geforce-gtx-780-ti-... .so in my conclusion, its worth man, even the "Price" little bit expensive than R9-290x. also it "Good choice" for you, considering you will play @ 2560 x,in Ultra setting maybe.
...............And you have "My" idol. the Corsair AX 860i Platinum is a"Giant" to. it would give an Extra 2x enough power in Full Load system. im warranty it hehehe.
okey that is for me now.(sorry for my bad english)

also rember the NVIDIA's "8" (the middle eight numbers) is the"Glory of Giant",starting with GTX8800, 9800GX2, GTX285, GTX480,GTX580 (My Favorite) GTX680 and the Oscar goes to .....the GTX780, applause...

what unknownofprob said. @1440p I would sit it out and wait. If you want to be future proof at 1440p, a 780 is only gonna last you so long before you need to tweak the settings.

for me, the 780 is "the Good deal" for the money

agree, but for the meantime a GTX 760 will be fine. Who knows what Maxwell may have for us so i'd wait just to see.
