greetings all.

i am upgrading my old pc:

CPU:Athlon II X4 630
RAM:4GB 1366MHZ
Mboard: Asrock 970 Extreme 3
GPU: ASUS GTX 560 ti

to

CPU: AMD FX 8350 "thinking of getting this one"
RAM: (No certain preference) "Suggestions welcome depending on the CPU / GPU match"
Mboard: Asrock 970 Extreme 3 "SAME"
GPU: Sapphire R9 280X Toxic Edition "Already bought it, so this one is carved in stone at the moment"

i would be grateful if you would give me some suggestions regarding the CPU and RAM, especially the RAM.

and how much power "PSU" i might need for this setup.

This is good ram. 1600MHz, Cl8 and really reliable.

Id look for better mobo too because asrock is not best one. Better ones are asus 990 PRO / EVO or gigabyte FXA 990 UD3 or better ones.

Good 750-850w psu is enough. 650w is enough but +100w is good to have.
This one is top quality psu.

Semi modular.

Lightning is really good quality.

Or this.

Other good option is seasonic g or x.

If you need cpu cooler? This looks like good buy now.

If you do not have SSD then buy one. It is really good for boot drive. Makes everything run much faster.
128GB is goos start but 256GB is bigger and more roon is better. And faster too.
This is cheap and good buy. Really reliable too.

thanks for you're answer AxlFone.

as for the ram.. any particular reason why 1600 would be better than 1866 for that CPU?
will that CPU / GPU match ever bottleneck?

now for the Mobo when you say better, what exactly do i expect to improve by changing my current asrock?

i am only asking that because the budget is a little tight for a new board as i still need a new case.

Imtel LGA 1150 cpus are getting benefit with faster memory. And AMD cheaper ones are working better with faster memory because iGPU is working better. AMD Fx is not getting so much benefit with faster memory.
But sure because yo uhave 1866MHz memory you can buy more that same memory.

Build looks good.

Better OC and better reliability.

You can use old mobo and if it fails then you can buy better :)
