RMA response time with Newegg? (MOBO)

So I recently, Feb. 27th 2014, built my first custom PC! I was ecstatic when I got all my parts in and took my time meticulously piecing my dream computer together. My heart was racing just before I flipped the power switch on, much to my relief it turned right on. I installed Windows 7, and then began to install the initial drivers for my mobo (MSI Z87-GD65 Gaming). One problem, the LAN drivers on the setup menu were dimmed. Easy enough I took my laptop and downloaded them off the MSI website onto an external flash drive. Went to setup the application on my dream PC and it prompted me that I do not have the "HARDWARE" to install these drivers. This couldn't be the case, I downloaded the correct drivers for my operating system and all. So I found the MSI customer support line, after a quick run though of the BIOS and Device Manager we came to the conclusion that I had a faulty (I don't remember the exact terminology) Ethernet something or other on my MOBO. Fair enough, I realize sh*t happens. I call Newegg, they very quickly oblige to an exchange for the exact mobo at no cost to me. I send it right off that evening via UPS. The nice young lady I spoke with on the phone informed me it would take 2-5 business days for them to receive the package and then another 1-2 days for them to get it to me via ShopRunner.

Under the status of the order it says "RMA# Issued" in green writing.

Sorry for the short story but I wanted to highlight my somewhat unique situation as I haven't found another quite like this to go off of.

Does anyone have any knowledge on this situation? Can I expect my MOBO by the end of this coming week? It is a bit sad seeing my entire setup that I was sooooo happy about just sitting there, gutless.

Obviously I have nothing but time on my hands to ponder such things so I figured I would throw this out in hopes of consolation. Any previous experience is appreciated as well.

I've never had a problem with newegg RMAs. It hasn't happened often but it does happen every once in a great while. That's one of the drawbacks to ordering on-line. You get a much greater selection of parts than brick-n-mortar stores, and usually less expensive, but when you do get a bad part it takes time to get it replaced.

They will probably have to confirm that the motherboard is defective (bad LAN/Ethernet port) before they will ship you a new one. You may get it when they said, it may take longer, I do not remember what their track record was with me because it happened so infrequently.

Dear MangoSmasher,

Please know that Newegg will process the return as soon as possible; however, after we receive the package, it may take 2-5 business days for the RMA to process. For additional information, you may click on the following link: http://bit.ly/MLBBeK.

I had a bad experience with NewEgg last year. Real, real bad.

However, response time wasn't the issue, so you'll probably get your new mobo on time.

It's still frustrating to have to wait on a part like that, but that should fade once you get the box together. Then you can enjoy the frustration of installing/updating software!
