how to change blow head gasket on a cadillac dts

My friend is sellin me his cadillac dts 01 for 1000 but it has a blown head gasket.is it hard to replace it? And how do i know its the head gasket?

The head gasket goes between the "top half" of the engine (aka the heads) and the "bottom half" (aka the engine block). It's an easy job, but if you have to ask what it is then you're probably better off taking it to a shop.

what engine does it have.none of the caddies are easy.if its the aluminum block v8 with studs instead of head bolts run.its a problem engine as the studs tend to pull out of the block.even the v6 will be more than the shadetree mechanic can handle.between parts and machine shop labor and depending on the year it could cost more than its worth.ive been a mechanic for over 30years and have been there.my advice,politely decline.

Aldan has the perfect answer. Just look how many Cadillac posts there are on this forum. And this is a computer forum. Aldan didn't even talk about the possibility of the heads being warped or cracked which was also an issue.

And those are just the tip of the iceberg. Man did Caddy screw up during those years. Great highway cruisers when they worked though.
