R9 290X worth the money over the R9 290?

I'm planning nmy upgrade build for this summer. I just upgraded my PSU for a Rosewill Capstone Gold 750W. I'll be getting an AMD FX8350 with my tax return and will get an evo 212 to cool it. I plan to run the 8350 @ 4.5Ghz for a mild OC.

Now my question is....

Is the price of the 290X worth the money over the regular 290? I've actually seen reviews that say the 290 actually benchmarks on par with the 290X, but is 50-150$ less, depending on brand. Any input would be great.

It depends on the value you want out of your money. The r9 290X has a 7% better overall performance than the r9 290. Whether that's worth the xtra money or not is up to you.

Which model are you looking at? A good 290 can OC to the level of a 290x if not better.

sapphire, HIS, Asus, haven't really got it down to one yet. am just trying to single out if I want the 290 or 290x atm. Would a 750W be ok with OCing both the 8350 and the 290? I also have a Gigabyte 970A UD3.

Your PSU is fine. I like Sapphire and Asus. Gigabyte and MSI are pretty good too.
