AMD A-Series A10-6800K Black Edition Processor - 4.1GHz

I have an AMD Phenom Quad core processor installed and I am looking at upgrading to an Intel i5 or AMD A-Series A10-6800K. Will it fit my current motherboard or do I need to upgrade the board as well? Also which chip is the best for gaming? (I am new to PC building)

No Intel chip will ever be socket compatible with any AMD chip. Too bad a business model.

The Phenom used socket AM2+. The A10 uses socket AM3+. They are not pin compatible. You'll need a new motherboard.

well, for gaming you dont really want an apu. depending on your budget, if it is under about $700 go with an am3+ system, if over $700, then go with intel. and you will most likely need a new mobo if you go with an am3+ setup, and absolutely if you go with intel.
