I'm building my first desktop, and I was wondering which build is better, and also which build is more powerful for gaming/ running CAD. Also if anything is missing that I may want to consider, and most likely if things aren't compatible with each other!

Then what would be a better GPU?
 
Intel is both better in terms of strength (amount it can process in each clock cycle) and efficiency (less power draw over AMD cards). AMD is better value for the money. For all intents and purposes, an AMD FX 8350 will match a higher end i5.
