Hi,
I'm looking to build my first gaming rig and can't decide on some basic hardware. I'd debating between the i5-4570 3.2GHz and the i54670k-3.4GHz. I'm looking at pairing the CPU with the MSI Z87-GD65 or the ASUS Maximus VI Hero ATX. Out of the box what would offer up the best combo for games such as: Skyrim, Final Fantasy XIV, and even Sim City regardless of if I decide to overclock or not. If I do decide to overclock at some point whats my best option. I've pretty much decided on the GTX 770-DG2OC-2GD5 graphics card unless there is a better one out there for the build I'm looking at with just as good preference and quality.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Also how would you suggest cooling it?

either cpu will give you great preformance, but the 4670k will be a tiny bit faster. and i would personally go with the maximus VI hero. and the 770 is great, but if you can afford it go for the 780 or 780Ti. also, what psu did you choose?

well if OC is on your mind you have to get the 4670k, otherwise any i5 is a great gaming choice. As for the mobo I think $200 is a bit overkill unless you need top end SLI support. Otherwise a $130 or so z87 will give good OC and will be feature rich. the 770 is a good choice and for an i5 rig, the 770 should be in the budget between $1000-$1200, otherwise you should be able to get a 780.

i5 4670k and Asus Maximus VI Hero. if you want better GPU you can pick Sapphire R9 290 Tri-x or GTX 780. but i prefer R9 290 cheaper, can match up with GTX 780, low noise, low temp. or it is your decision whether you want the R9 290 or the GTX 780. good luck to your 1st build :)

the 290 is insanely over priced right now and runs much hotter than the 780. the 780 is a much better choice.

is it OP now? o_O my friend bought 290 for a cheaper price than 780. well GTX 780 might do.
Well in the performance can still kick GTX 780's for some reasons and we experienced it.
