Hey guys,
I'm just looking for some feedback or opinions on a GPU upgrade for my system.

System is as follows
i7 2600 3.4Ghz (non k)
Sapphire 7850 2GB oc edition
Asus P8Z77-V LK MB
8 GB 1333 oem memory (sorry don't know the brand off hand it was from a older system)
Corsair TX650 PSU
Corsair H60 cooler
Samsung EVO 120GB SSD
1TB Western Digital HDD
Asus VG24QE 144hz monitor 1080p
Bitfenix Ronin Case

This was my first build which I pieced together from parts from a OEM PC and news parts I bought locally. I'm happy with the way everything runs but now I have a bit of extra cash and I'm looking at upgrading my GPU.
I don't plan on doing SLI or crossfire so I'm looking for a single GPU which would give me great FPS allowing me to get the most out of my 144hz monitor.
I just noticed a gigabyte R9 290 oc windforce on sale for 549.00 CDN and I'm wondering if this would be a good upgrade for the money. I would like to keep my budget in the 600 or less range.
I like to play arma 3, BF4, Splintercell blacklist and pretty much any other games that capture my interest. Obviously if I can play at a high frame rate at higher settings that's my end goal.
My 7850 does ok in BF4 holding my frames around the 50-60 mark at lowered settings but I would really like to play at 1080 maxed out if I can.
I don't have a favourite between AMD or Nvidia as I see both companies offering great products with good features. Just looking for some advice.
Thanks guys

Hey thanks for your reply.
I was kinda thinking the same thing already but I wasn't sure. I know the 290/780 has the big vram numbers which everyone says is for 4k gaming ect but I wasn't sure if it would help in my case considering the extra price.

Do you think a Gigabyte 290oc windforce for $549 Canadian is a decent deal? its a bit less then the 780's I have found right now.

Thanks again!
I think I have made up my mind then.
