I just bought a new standard 60 Inch TV from Samsung.

Will there be big difference watching 720p and 1080p on the TV?
Currently I have a bunch of Bluray 720p movies in my external HD and I can just plug into the TV and watch it.
Will the 720p movies watchable on the 60 inch TV? Good or bad?
Should I get the 1080p?

Watching around 3-5M from the TV.

I have 3 x Toshiba Full 1080HD in the house and play back BR rips at 1080 and 720 across the wifi and can't tell the difference from playing from a BR disk in the player connected by HDMI.

All depends on how good the TV decodes the video stream and its rendering engine.

Personally, just watch it and if your happy then why worry.

Test it out, watch a 720 and then try a 1080 and see if you notice a difference. Depending how far you are sitting I don't think it will be much different. Like das said, depends on the stream and the decoder.

I dont' think there's going to be much of a different from that viewing distance. I'm sure both will look good with that awesome TV.

720 will be fine on the 60 inch but 1080 would be better. I used to only download 1080p when I had a 55, now I have a 40 I download 720p. If there is a hardcore action movie or another movie that you want all the eye candy you can get then do 1080p. There is a noticeable difference between the two, I could always pick out which movies were 720p and not 1080p.

Best thing to do, download a couple of examples and see which you prefer. Is the 1080 worth the extra download and storage?
