So here's my first build. Yes I am a newbie:

I have not started to buy the parts yet, as I am in no hurry. My plan is to spend the next 1-2 months looking for price drops and deals and buying each component when I feel it is at it's cheapest price.

-Can anyone recommend if this is a good/practical idea? I don't want to wait so long that my parts start to become obsolete, so I want to be done and have it built in 3 months tops.

Here are some more questions...

-Is there a certain order I should take in buying (ex buying the CPU first, then PSU, then motherboard, then etc...)

-Are there any predictable trends with regards to the price of memory or other components beyond just looking at market fluctuations?

-Do deals/promotions occur more in certain months?

-Is there anything that is likely to not fluctuate in price?

-Is there anything I should absolutely buy now before it goes up in price?

-Any other advice???

Thanks for taking the time to answer any and all of my questions!

RAM is always all over the place for pricing.

HDD is fairly constant.

At any given moment there's a DVD drive for $15.

Cases vary quite a bit, a single case can range $40.

Processors are somewhat stable, but I know the 4670k is at a great price right now. There's a lot of options for mobos so there'll be a deal on a good mobo at any given time.

GPU is mostly stable with a MIR here and there.

PSU range a lot, you just missed out on a streak of good prices on good PSUs.
