Hello community,

I am new to tomshardware. After viewing some thread on here about q/a, I have been experiencing some issues about my own system. I currently have issues with my system freezing and shutting down while playing games on my computer or when I am having too many windows and application open causing stress to the PC. Currently, my set up contains;

Intel i7 930 @ 2.80gb w/ EVGA x58 sli LE motherboard, 6gb rams, MSI Radeon 5750, Samsung 1tb harddrive, 1000watts power supply, encase in Zalman z7 plus.

I would like to know what can I do to optimize my computer specs so I can perform certain tasks and play games such as Titanfall, Battlefield 4, or any games in the future that requires high performance computers etc. I don't want to buy parts thinking it will upgrade significantly but the performance may not be noticeably at all. But I do not want to buy a completely new PC. Basically, I want to know what are valuable upgrades that can help my computer perform significantly better such as NEW VIDEO CARD? MORE RAMS? SSD? or what I can do show noticeable performance increase.

Hope to hear from anyone who can assist.

Thank you,
Jay

Hello there and welcome to toms hardware! After looking at your specs I have to say that your processor is top notch and your power supply is perfect. The obvious culprit is the video card. Replacing video cards is easy enough I suggest if you want future proofing and ultra gaming go for a r9 290 other wise on more budget a r9 280 (not the 280x) Also get 2-4 gb ram as 8 ram should be plenty don't worry dram nowadays is dirt cheap! Hope I helped!
edit: You said ur cpu is under stress with few windows. When it is working hard take of side panel and lisen to fan if it is scraping or stuttering its fan issue also scan ur pc with malware bytes (best free scanner) to check if there is any bloat ware using ur cpu power.

Thank you for your response...seems like a good solution to my problem. I thought of the similar solution to what you mentioned but wasn't sure if the upgrade in rams would give any increase in performance from mix reviews I have been reading on the internet. I think I will purchase extra 8gb rams and upgrading to nvidia gtx 770w/acx. Which I estimate the cost around $450-500 for the upgrade. Hopefully this solution will optimize my computer performance to my satisfaction. Thank you for your contribution to this issue.
