i would go down to i5 4670k and get a gtx 780 ti 3gb and a z87 motherboard that way you will have better performance.

Would you say just upgrading to the 4gb 770 would be good too?

still wouldn't beat the gtx 780ti also i highly recommend this again if possible. if you cant than 4gb is greater.

Yeah, I tried out the cost using the parts you recommended and it pushed the total up to $2000. With the 770 4gb upgrade I am only at $1781 now. Do you think this current PC build I have with the 4gb 770 would work nicely? With no components being bottle-necked or anything that?

nope of course! that cpu is really powerful. it will NOT bottleneck any card you will be fine .
