Moving Internationally with my PC

Hi
I am doing a co-op degree in school which requires me to work and study in four month intervals. I got a job in a completely different country to which I study. Now, I don't own a laptop instead I have a mid tower size PC. I was looking for some advice on packaging and transport of my PC. Should I take out components? Package individually? Or should I have FedEx send things for me? Or is it even worth the trouble? I could just store it, but that would make things a lot more difficult. Thanks in advanced.

More about : moving internationally

If you transport it, Remove the CPU cooler and any add in cards like GPU or sound cards. the stress on the motherboard can cause it to break or break the components. These are all that is necessary to be removed to ship it with out damage. Ideally in your situation a laptop would be best to go back and forth.

When I moved my PC I kept it all in one piece, but I put non-static bubble wrap on the inside to help support the GPU and CPU cooler. I then put it in a box with packing material and sealed it up. I made sure that the PC was always on its side (so the cooler was facing up with the mobo on the bottom). If I could not control the orientation of the pc I would take the CPU cooler off if you have a non-stock cooler. I would also remove the GPU. I would wrap them all up in static free bubble wrap etc., package them up and ship them marked as fragile.

alright thanks guys. Given that it costs an arm and a leg to do that, I will most probably just have to store it.

Not unless you plan to carry it on. And if you do that tsa would probably have a few questions for you. Checked luggage is literally thrown around, dropped, and crushed. Plus the fee the airline would charge you would probably be pretty large because they have weight restrictions.
