Building a new Gaming PC for my friend's son. I have never built a PC before and i'm worried about compatibility issues or other problems that might occur. I spent about 4 hour looking at all the hardware to see if everything is fine, but I may have missed something.

Let me know if you guys see any incompatible parts or suggestions:

CPU: Intel Core Intel Core i7-4770k Haswell 3.5GHz LGA 1150 84W
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 120mm
Motherboard: ASUS Maximus VI Formula LGA 1150 Intel z87
Memory: Ripjaws X Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) (Need 32)
Video Card: Used GTX680 4GB
Case: Corsair Carbide Series ATX Mid Tower Case
Power Supply: CORSAIR AX Series <----Not sure
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate N
HDD: 1TB
SSD: Samsung 840 Pro Series 256GB

Gaming pc only takes 8GB max. Save that 300 dollar for a better video card and cooler like H100i. Only personal opinion though. Since you said it's a gaming rig.

Your rig seems to be compatible. If you want to double check, go to http://pcpartpicker.com/ and put in the parts you listed. It'll check for any incompatibilities.

Everything is compatible, but you are spending more money than necessary. A gaming PC does not need 32GB of RAM; 8GB is still sufficient, and sixteen offers no benefits today but might in another year or two. An i5-4670K would do as well as the i7 in games.
The Corsair AX series is good, but I think it may only be available in somewhat larger units than you need; 650W is enough for a GTX480, such as this Seasonic: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... for $110 shipped.

considering you said (need 32) i will presume you know why you are buying 32gb as this is usually seen as a bit overkill for most users.

however apart from that the system is great and perfectly compatible.

in terms of the power supply, i would recommend if you are using single graphics a 600W minimum PSU, and if you are planning on eventually running dual gpu an 850W PSU minimum

He is doing some modeling work. Might be a overkill but i'm guessing he won't be needing to get new memory for quite a while.

Even modeling work wouldn't take more than MAX 16GB. I suggest you just save it and get a better cooler. 16GB is already overkill for a lot of pc builds. Even high ends.

Thanks for the help, I will probably look into buying a lower voltage PSU and cheaper RAM.

I think you can keep the PSU. Maybe he would like to SLI? Just in case? ;)
