Should i block unused holes on my pc case to prevent dust/air ingress? I have 2x120mm fans on intake front/bottom and bottom, 1x120mm fan on exhaust at the back/top and 1X200mm fan on exhaust at the top.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.

What kind of holes are you talking about? I'm sure it would be fine if you block it or not.

those are vents for excess heat to to expel through and i wouldnt block them off. your current airflow is the recommended setup. so with the your current setup i wouldnt change a thing

With 2 in and 2 out you and the exact same fans all around, you would have more air going out then in. This is because, typically, the air inlets are filtered and the air outlets are not. The filter reduces the effectiveness of all fans in the case, but less so on the exhaust because it will pull fin from the unfiltered open grille areas.

1. Make sure all inlet fans have filters.
2. Have 1 more intake fan than exhaust fans
3. If ya can't do item 2, add inlet filters over all ya grille areas.

They are not vents just holes in the pcie blanks at the back of the pc and holes for water cooling pipes that are not used. I just feel that the air flow throgh the case caused by the fans is reduce by unfiltered dusty air entering throuh these holes.
Think I will try blanking them and monitor temps.

They are vents.... they are specifically made that wait so as to allow for additional cooling.

Blocking off any venting = bad idea.

Good ideas:

1. Have more fans blowing in than out ..... that forces air OUT the vents rather than IN the vents.
2. Filter the vents

Blocked off the holes and ran for ten minutes monitoring temperatures. With the holes left open i was getting a cpu temp of 41c and motherboard temp of 29C. With the holes blocked the temps dropped cpu 38C and motherboard temp 28C.
More holes do not necessarily mean more cooling, its about how the air is channeled.
Thanks for your responses.

At minimal air turn over that may well be the case.... however, it also may change when the amount of heat generated is larger. I don't have any systems running that hot at idle speeds....and peeps generally are not concerned about temps at idle speeds. Before ya make final decision, I'd crank that baby up with OCCT or prime 95 and see what happens.
