Im building full system (including OS, monitor, keyboard & mice ) im looking at spending around £700-£800 on the lot so around 500-600 on the pc itself.

Issue im having is that do i choose a processor like the i3-4130 paired with a GTX 760 (yes i know it bottle necks) and update the processor in the future - £274

OR

Buy a i5-4440 and a R9 270x and upgrade graphics card in the future - £278.
Better processor but still upgradable in future and slightly lower graphics.

Games i will be playing are Dayz, battlefield4, league of legends.

Where do i spend more, bearing in mind ill be upgrading.

the r9 270x performs as well as the gtx 760, so i say go for option 2.

What about the i3-4130 and the R9 270x? Or is a quad core best for gaming?

Quad core is far superior. Most big games at the moment are utilizing all 4 cores of quad cores processors. With a dual core you are forcing yourself to upgrade very soon.

If you make the leap to an FX-6300 and Asus M5A97 (not LE) the Sapphire AMD R9 280X should fit into your budget.

That should give you a serious leap in performance over the 270X for BF4

The 280X will get 20-25% higher frames in BF4 over the 270X (essentially bumping up against the GTX770).

As far as your motherboard, I've never had the pleasure but my understanding is that Asrock 990FX Extreme3 is not much of a bargain unless you need a cheap CrossFire/SLI rig.

The Asus M5A97 (not LE) or Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P have longer warranties, better OC headroom, stronger PWM, better components, etc., and should save you £10-15 over the AsRock.

If you want a low-budget CrossFire/SLI rig, check out the Asus M5A99X EVO 990X or the Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3.

AND, if your ultimate goal is multiple video cards you likely need to bump your PSU to 650-700w.

In a gaming rig, mo' GPU power always works best.

I'm not familiar with that GTX770 OEM. Are they a reliable bunch? Why does that card cost 30-40% less than other similar cards?

I had the exact same dilemma as you. Intel, or AMD. Intel, or AMD. In the end I used one of those random generator thingies on the internet and went with AMD. My CPU was the FX-8320 and my GPU was the MSI GTX 770. This maxes out BF4 at ultra at 50-60fps. SO definately go with the AMD build and maybe save an extra 8 quid and go for the M5A97 R2.0. Also check out Amazon, Aria, Scan, and Dabs for prices. Or PCPARTPICKER.com/
Not familiar with that brand of the GTX 770. Also if you want more VRAM, get the R9 280X at sale on aria.co.uk for £220 inc delivery

I'd get the 6300 & GTX 770 since GPU > CPU if you want a gaming build on a certain price.
