So I've been in the market for a new computer lately, and a friend is upgrading his and offered to sell me his for 550 dollars, everything except the graphics card is from some time in 2010, so 3-4 years old. The graphics card itself is from December of 2012, so just over a year old.

The parts as far as I know thus far are included at the bottom, save the disc drive. As I know it has one and at the end of the day it's just a disc drive. I also know it has good case and fan, and I don't know them exactly but I'm sure it works.

One big concern is the OS, it has a pirated copy of Windows 7 64 bit, presumably pro. But he has said it has done him fine. The big worry is the age, I'm enticed by the low price of a relatively good computer, but the worry of having it break down shortly after I buy it (especially when getting a new computer that matches it isn't too much more, though I'm tight for money) is a huge one. Does anyone here have experience with these parts? Is this a reasonable deal? Of course another aspect of this is my friend, while living fairly close to me in the same state, does not live within convenient driving distance. If I end up getting screwed out of my money by having a part die within the first year, it will hit hard.

So I guess the simple question is, should I do it? Or go ahead and build my own new and take a hit in price. I'm not going to use this for super high end gaming obviously, rather to play PC releases of the past 5 years at reasonable settings and to play a new game or two on the side.

The more I look at this the less I want to buy it, as age is a huge worry. But give me honest opinions. Thanks to anyone ahead of time for help.
