New build hard drive

So I originally planned to upgrade my existing computer with a new graphics card, SSD, and a fresh copy of windows. Upon receiving and installing those items (and using them for a little under two weeks) it became apparent that something critical with my old power supply or motherboard was failing.

So I decided to go with an entirely new build. All new parts, including the parts I already bought for the upgrade. I replaced my OEM copy of windows, so I have a fresh key ready to go. I'm not sure what to do about the SSD, though.

I've already installed a variety of applications on it during the two weeks the upgraded original computer was functioning and I understand I may need to lose that data (I read it's tricky to use an old install of windows with new hardware) but will I be able to install the drive with the new parts and do the initial boot up normally? And then do a fresh install with the new copy of windows?

Sorry for my ignorance. I've only ever built new rigs with fresh hard drives. I just want to make sure I'll be able to connect to and boot from this SSD normally once all the additional parts arrive and I start the build.

when you install the new copy of windows it will wipe the old install, just boot from your disk drive with the win cd in

Boot from your Windows install disk
Install on the SSD, blowing away everything on it
Move on...

Great, thanks. I just wasn't sure if all these driver issues that arise with an old windows install on new hardware would complicate me even getting to the boot screen to start a fresh install.

no problem just make sure you set your primary boot device to your disk drive
