Right off the bat, to summarize before going into depth for anybody who doesnt have much time to read, this forum is just me calling out for some assistance on a pathway of anybody with some experience in the field to maybe throw some of their knowledge my way.

To start off, I'm a geek that graduated highschool and got lost in the military for 4 years somehow. Im from southeastern Michigan but currently stationed / working down in Jacksonville, NC. Now that I'm about to get out in October to get back to the civilian world I want to pursue a degree in Computer Engineering. Thanks to the GI Bill I can get 3 years of in state college paid for, so my plan is to go to a community college (Washtenaw CC) for 2 years then transfer into University of Michigan. What I'm trying to get information on is anything you guys can provide other then financial things. This is somebody who has very little college knowledge of how to get this process going or even what classes to pick so anything helps. I've been trying to find somebody working in the field just to sit down and talk with or shadow or maybe even a type of weekend intern program within a couple hours of me. But the problem is hardware engineers are turning out to be hard to find, theres only 80, 000 of them and I want to talk to the one who works for asus or nvidia or intel or something along those lines. Not somebody who works CAD for some random company or programs android applications. Somebody who actually works on developing parts for computers.

Thank you for any help or connections with somebody who can help that you can offer, even an email contact would be beneficial.

P.S. Sorry if I upset anybody for posting this here, but its my best guess of where I'll find somebody in the field that can help.
