Got a new build being produced with
Samsung 840 pro 500gb

Heard SteamOS needs 500gb drive though?
Still the case?

Heard on a utube video they set one up with a 60gb ssd and was fine, but needed setting up in linux first.

With me partitioning off set about of GB ready for a linux install after Win8pro 64bit?

Say 100gb? Leaving 400gb for windows?
Or just get another SSD when SteamOS is ready and switch bootable drives when needed?

More about : worth partitioning ready steamos

I would put SteamOS on its own drive. It is a Linux variant, and still not fully cooked.

wont there be performance issues or decreases in the SteamOS not being on a primary SSD?
Or best to have 2 SSD drives that you can switch primarys before booting?

Also been hearing about this UEFI (secure mode) AHCI issue with SteamOS. Something about SteamOS not being digitally signed as it is free.
Are the advantages of UEFI and AHCI that big that I should set them up anyway before installing Win8,
and having SteamOS on a different SSD will circumvent this?

Sorry Im talking about things way over my head

Whatever drive the system boots from is the 'primary drive. No performance difference, other than SSD v HDD.
Not sure about the SteamOS/UEFi thing.
