I have never owned a Radeon card before and I know nothing about them but I ran across this deal and I am wondering which card people would go for and why.

EVGA GeForce GTX 750Ti FTW = (http://www.alphacity.co.nz/index.php?z=p&p=10000077&qr=...)

Sapphire Radeon R9 270X Dual-X OC = (http://www.alphacity.co.nz/index.php?z=p&p=142207&qr=pr...)

The 270X is better than a 750Ti

The GTX 750Ti is the new range of Maxwell cards which use a lot less power. The equivalent to the 270X will be the GTX 800 series but they wont be out until the end of the year according to reports (no date has been released).

The 270x is quite a bit faster, for the prices listed go for the 270x.

Will my motherboard fit those cards Gigabyte GA-H61M-D2-B3 and i'm running a cheap 500wat psu will that be enough for the 270x? Thanks for your reply.

Mobo is fine.
List you brand and model PSU.

Sadly I highly doubt it. It is a hyena 500w dr-8500btx looks like it only has one pci-e connector.
Unless I can get an adapter or another super dirt cheap psu that will just do it for the mean time looks like I will have to go for the gtx 750 ti. If you can recommend a real cheap psu from New Zealand then that would be great.

Should run the 750ti, but yes...a bit scary PSU.

Would you be able to recommend the cheapest steps to run a single r9 270x.

they're not in the same price range or class. Definitely go with the amd one if PSU is not a concern.

So it seems to have come down to the gtx 750 ti ftw and the r7 265. The r7 265 is $40 new zealand dollars cheaper than the 750 ti ftw and all reviews I have seen say the r7 265 is faster than the 750 ti. I can not find any reviews comparing it to the ftw version though and this would be my first amd card. It's looking like the r7 265 is the winner.

The R7 265 is a great price/performance card.
