Viewing the "Applications" forum I find that posts asking for help are being swamped by Tutorials. Is it necessary for each new Tutorial to appear in the list of recent posts; wouldn't it be more appropriate for them to be listed elsewhere?

I agree that it doesn't make sense to have them in the list of threads. People will land on these pages directly via search engines. I can't see too many people trawling through them one by one for something to read.

That's certainly a valid workaround (as long as I remember the link). But it involves an extra step that shouldn't really be necessary. Tutorials are not the same as normal forum posts and shouldn't, IMO, appear as part of the forum listing. Really they should only appear in a section of their own, not scattered throughout the normal forum posts.

Just my opinion, but I don't think I should have to go through arcane URLs to get a "normal" browsing experience.

True enough. We're working on ways to consolidate the tutorials while still keeping them browse-able.

Is it possible to have the default view exclude tutorials, but still allow them to be included on demand?

Not within the constraints of the filters at current, since you'd end up showing based on content type, and Discussions/Questions//Tutorials are all content types right now.
