ASUS VS239HR IPS 23 inch VS Asus VN248H IPS 23.8 inch which is better?

hey..i currently have ASUS VS239HR IPS 23 inch..and i noticed that it got dead pixels, so I'm gonna exchange it..but the problem is that its out of stock..i looked for a new IPS monitor and i only found this > Asus VN248H IPS 23.8 inch .. would it be a good replacement? , although i prefer to keep my current monitor , so can dead pixels be fixed by the warranty? could they be able to fix it?

What store? There are a lot of IPS choices at that resolution at other stores (like newegg for example).

i know..but i only have these two options in my country egypt..and like i said i currently have ASUS VS239HR IPS 23 inch
but it have dead pixels..so can the warranty fix it?

The other model you mentioned is almost the exact same one. In fact, it might just be the same monitor, and the VS239HR is just a minor update to it with a new feature here or there. (but I'm just guessing; I guess it's possible it could be a different grade panel).


Also, is it just 1 "off" or "dark" pixel? If it is just a dark pixel, I wouldn't worry about. Pixel defects are common for LCD monitors. It's the "on" pixels that can be annoying. Of course, a lot of companies have a zero pixel defect policy, so feel free to return it to get one with no defective ones.

thank you..i actually have like 7 pixels..all dark and small ones..except 1 pixel that kindda noticeable at the bottom middle of the screen..and yes i think there is almost no difference between the two monitor..except that my current monitor have a DVI..but the other have only HDMI and VGA

If Asus has a zero pixel defect policy then you can. But be warned, that I have actually filed a warranty claim with HP before and the replacement I got was an "F" grade panel with many pixel defects. (Technically, C is the worst grade, but this one was bad.) Asus, might not be so careless though.

Anyways, if it is just 1 "off" or "dark" pixel, you might just not want to bother; those are not very annoying. Otherwise that other panel you mentioned looks fine. Get that.

In other words, I suggest either sticking with what you got or getting that other model... and don't try the warranty route as that can sometimes be more trouble.

thank you again..you mean that i return my panel and get back my money then i buy the new model? i was thinking about that also...but the better option i wish to happened is that these dead pixel can be fixed by the warranty without having a replacement..can that happen ? or dead pixel cannot be fix even by them?

Dead pixels cannot be fixed. On a few rare occassions, if you rub the spot, it might make the pixel work (or in even rarer cases it might cause a bad spot or wear off the finish).

Whenever you return something for bad pixels, it is almost certain they will be sending you a new panel.

And yes, try getting that other models, since the one you wanted was not in stock...

...or... get a different brand IPS?

unfortunately those two IPS Brands is the only ones are available here in egypt..i can wait for new brands but i dunno how long i will wait..so i guess i will return it and try to get the other model..however i didn't had these dead pixel when i got my current monitor it had Zero dead pixels..it only showed after 7 months from buying it..i guess after i cleaned my monitor with an alcohol..so i don't know if that the reason

Well in that case, don't bother returning it.

* After 7 months, you can't exchange it for a different model anyways.
* But, more importantly, the cleaning might be what damaged it. It is possible that you are not actually seeing defective pixels but small damage or particles from the cleaning. Cleaning your monitor with a slightly damp cloth (using only water) would be better as long as you apply very, very light pressure ... and also cleaning it only when it has been off for a while (and is cooled down) might also be a good idea, just to be extra careful. However, it is quite possible that you may never have to clean an LCD screen, as they usually don't get dirty.

Hmm, well you could try dabbing the spot softly with a wet cloth to see if it is just particles that collected there.

these black dots are inside the monitor glass itself and i made sure from that..i tried rubbing it slowly..it kept getting smaller while rubbing it but after i remove my hand it come back to that shape of a pin point ..it maybe a dead pixels..i guess dead pixels can also appear from cleaning with alcohol
i hope they can fix it ..but the important question can they take it back in warranty? ( i won't tell them that i cleaned it with an alcohol for sure) lol

Well, if you are asking what I would do if it were me..., I would tell them about the cleaning (and that it started afterwards) and them ask them about it.
