When does Maxwell release? I want an 880GTX already. But if maybe they had a 780Ti for under 800 bucks I'd consider biting, and that is a huge maybe.

I don't think the 382 bus speed is going to properly facilitate full use of 6gb ram amd didn't go for 510 or whatever for nothing. Amd cards push better frame rates at higher res with larger stock v ram. Nvidia beats them normally at 1900 res.

Maybe in a month or two, but I would wait for 20 nm since that's what will give it the huge difference, which is in Q4 2014. Worth the wait if you ask me.

I noticed exactly what you just mentioned Dr.... About the built in irrelevance factor in basically every performance driven item humans can buy. When I look at a recent benchmark chart of GPUs, I wonder why people EVER consider buying new ones back to back or even "tic-tock." The Benchmarks look like a stock driving its own price up by selling you the same piece of Schat over and over. Just like I have an OEM fx-8300 and you guys had to buy the fx-8350... Money, Hoes, Cars, Clothes, .... and Computers... All invent their value out of peoples desire to gain an edge over the next person, or just want the best that is out. Shoot, the fx-6300s can hang with most AMD cpus out and they are years old. Its all in your mind... as long as you get a steady smooth game, you dont need to buy for 4 years. fx8300 3.3 with supposed 4.2 boost12gb ram 1600 mhzevga 760 M5A97 AsusSS 128gb SSD2TB HDD

6GB? for what exactly? If you game on 1 monitor you need 2GB max... multiple monitors maybe 4GB... 6 is just marketing nothing more. It's like the 8 core CPU for a smartphone.
when I'm using high quality texture mods for skyrim I need more than 2GBthief needs more than 2GBand then theres the fact that newer games will be needing a lot more than 2GB of vram because they are newer and will be attempting to utilise the capability of high end graphics cards better and thus will require more vram

My first thought was same, before I realized it's a niche card, for nice SLI builds. Hi-res SLI will defeinitely need that VRAM. 2x 780 6GB will beat 2x780TI 3GB.If you want fast 1920x1080, just get a 780Ti.

in some cases you can end up needing more than 3GB of vram at 1080P if you pile on the graphical enhancements
but yes high res sli could be a thing its useful for (its like that 8GB R9 290X)
