PC turns on and off repeatedly

I recently built a PC but a few months ago my mobo broke down i guess and I just received a new one from asrock and when I set everything up the whole system (fans, lights, etc.) turns on and off. However when I plug my mobo speaker in, it beeps like it's trying to tell me something but since the pc shuts off too fast I don't know what it's telling me.

It sounds like your motherboard has a case shorting issue. Make sure that the motherboard and the standoffs are correct.

I put in standoffs and screwed the screws into them, they are also in the correct places and I made sure when I put it in that they weren't to tight. Thanks for response

Check around the edges of the board to see if it is touching or if there is an extra standoff. The repeated off/on is what a shorting motherboard does.

Try "breadboarding" the motherboard.

I did before I put it in the case. same results, I figured if I put it in it might be "normal."

If it did this on/off cycle while it is properly breadboarded then the motherboard is faulty.

Try the breadbarding again. If it fails, there isn't anything you can do, RMA to the store. Get a different motherboard.

Of so during breadboarding I figured out that when the Powersupply plug that goes into the motherboard (not the 24-pin one, the 4-pin one) is not plugged in it turns on normally and gives no POST. What does this tell me?

The 4-pin that you are referring to is the CPU power cable. I would not expect it to post without CPU power.

You powered the motherboard with the 24-pin cable. The motherboard is a functional unit only with a powered, installed CPU,

ASRock FM2A55M-DGS HD+. Also upon breadboarding again Absolutely nothing happened I have my cpu, one stick of ram, and powersupply.

While I am looking this up, would you go through the checklist I sent you again? See if it rings any bells .Did you reset the CMOS for example?

I looked up the installation for your motherboard. In the pdf below, checkout page 19, it shows the cmos clearing jumper.

That was the only thing I found that was unique. The method of popping the battery should also work.

Cleared CMOS and gone through checklist. Won't even turn on at while breadboarding.

Unfortunately, I think the motherboard is faulty.

I put everything back in the case and turned on the PSU this immediately caused the powerlight to start flashing and a high-pitched beeping noise emitting from what I can only guess is the mobo speaker. So if the mobo speaker and pwr light are working.....Is the mobo dead?
