Hello Everyone!

I would like to know which card would be the most suitable to upgrade to at this time; this should be based on:

- Price
- Performance in 1920 x 1080
- Performance on multi 1920 x 1080 monitors
- Future-proofing
- Latest Directx version supported
- Performance in Windows 7
- Suitability for my system

My system specs are as follows:

HP Pavillion Elite 490uk
Intel i7 870 @ 2.93 GHz
8 Gb DDR3
1.5 Tb Hard Drive
NVidia GeForce GT 230

I'm planning on upgrading to a 700W power supply and a new case.

What are your thoughts on this?

Thanks for your help!

Really depends on what games you're playing, they trade between amd optimised games & nvidia optimized games. Though i think the 770 is better overall. Even though it doesn't come with the newer ASUS cooler like the amd.

Bump.

Does anyone have any clue on if either one will serve me better in 4 or 5 years?

I think I'll be going for the 770 mostly because of driver support and the experience software; plus PhysX of course.
I'd still like to know if I'd be missing out on the support for the later Directx versions though.

Thanks for your help!

well in 4-5 years they're probably still even in performance, the 3GB dram on the 280X might be useful in 4-5 years, but not extremely important.
Both of those cards should be able to run DirectX 12 when it comes out. :)
