understand i don't know what you're planning. If all you have is a single 1080p monitor, and you don't plan to get more, then that r9-290 is more gpu then you'll ever need in the lifetime of that computer. If you have a 1440p monitor, again, the 290 would be all you could possibly need for the lifetime of that computer.

If you plan to get a 4k monitor, or 3 1440p monitors, you probably will want the 780ti. Not because the 780ti will be perfect in 4k (its not), but because 2 780tis will crush 4k.

so you see i don't have enough information to know if a r9-290 will be...
well... excepting for titan fall, the 780ti will do moderately better then the 290x. in titan fall the 290x will do significantly better then the 780ti (obviously an AMD optimized title; likely future driver updates from nvidia will reverse this as the 780ti is a faster card then the 290x)

That said, both are serious overkill for 1080p. You should be able to get 144fps on a 780 or 290 in 1080p... heck you might be able to manage with a 770 or 7970/280x.

for the price/performance?
550 euro for r9 290x lightning and 650 euro for gtx 780 ti.

well the 780ti is about 10%-15% better, but it is 20% more expensive. So i would say the price/performance is on the side of the r9-290x.

If you can get a r9-290 for 400-450 euros that's where i would go... it's got a much better price/performance ratio then both of those cards.

actually the r9 290 tri x is 350 euro now and the oc version is 370...
the next question is that what non ref. r9 290 is the best...
i choose r9 290x/gtx 780 ti cuz i wont upgrade my rig for a long time...(maybe)

well if you're using a 1440p or lower resolution monitor, a r9-290 will be more then enough gpu for you. as for your question, the best 290's is the sapphire tri-x; most of the others do a poor job cooling the vrms and as a result are limited on their overclocks.

so its ok to get r9 290 even if i wont upgrade my rig for a long time?
my rig:
maximus vi hero
i5 4670k
vengeance pro 8gb
ax860
nzxt switch 810
840 evo 120gb

the classified kingpin is by far the fastest card on the planet, but your also going to have to pay for an ekwb block and a 240 rad d5 pump setup on top of its price to see its potential.

if your never going to put the card under water, i would stay away from the classified, its just necessary.
