Hi,

I'd like to ask a few questions about my first ever build. I'm creating the PC specifically for X-plane 64bit (windows 7 64b). and streaming to twitch. I'd also need to use photoshop and other video related hardware.

here are the components:

1x MOTHERBOARD ASUS MAXIMUS VI HERO
1x PROCESSOR Intel® Core™ i7-4770K FC-LGA4
1x GRAPHICS CARD MSI GTX780 Lightning
1x POWER Seasonic G-Serie 650Watt
1x PC-CASE Fractal Design Define R4 Pearl Black - Window
1x STORAGE Samsung 840 EVO MZ-7TE250BW, 250 GB SSD
1x CPU-COOLING be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 2
4x CASE-FANS Noctua NF-P12 PWM, koeler
1x LIDUID COOLING Corsair Hydro H100i
1x MISC Arctic Silver 5 Retail 5

I still own a 2tb HDD, that would be used as main storage too.

I have three questions.

    1. What do you think about the build
    2. Do you think 650W is enough?
    3. Do you think 4 case fans are enough and where should I place them and in which config (intake, exhaust, push pull)

I will be attempting to overclock both the CPU and GPU but I don't want to watercool.

Hi there, everything looks great! apart from the psu may work but I would future proof it for other events such as SLI which will need a much bigger PSU so I would go for a 750W+ PSU to insure that the system will be stable.
as for the fans I would recommend getting a few more, since your case supports 6 fans slots I would fill them all up to insure maximum efficiency when overclocking the cpu and gpu.
Finally I don't think you have labelled your ram so don't forget it out in the build :p

Oh snap, you are right. I forgot to add the ram, 16gb Corsair Vengeance 1600 LP - and I added double CPU cooling, the Black Rock can be taken out.

I suppose it can't hurt having extra voltage, so a 750 wouldn't be a bad idea.
Are you sure i should add even more fans? I though the h100i would have no problems cooling the CPU while the GPU has three fans on it + the fans in the case cooling it too?

So, six noctua's instead of four?

To be honest, you may need a minimum of 4 fans to insure maximum preformance and stability whilst overclocking the CPU and GPU, and i would also go as high as you can with the wattage as this cannot damage any parts just insure that your covered in the future.

Hi there, that psu you have chosen is perfect and very stable (good choice), seems like your ready to go!
Hope your build goes to plan ;)
Good luck!
If you have any questions along the way feel free to ask!

Thanks Hjgrove. Now at least I know what I'm working towards :D  Time to start filling that Piggy bank.
