Asus VE247 color calibration

Does anyone know the best way to adjust the color on this monitor (or any other similar asus monitor if you dont have the exact model). I just got it and it just looks meh, but for $170 I'm not going to argue I just want some help on how to calibrate the colors. Do I change the monitor settings or nvidia control settings or a combination of both to get a good looking picture? what other things I should do to help me get a better picture? any help would be great guys.

The monitor's built-in colour controls are the best place to start.
