I bought my Saphhire HD7770 GHz edition last year, it was on sale for $90 on amazon. I never used it yet, same for many of my 2yr+ old components. Reason is because I don't have everything to complete the build, missing OS, monitor, keyboard, mouse :p  Don't worry I kept them all in a very safe place! Anyway I was thinking of getting this : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168....

One game I've always enjoyed since 2011 is DCUO, over the years it became more demanding each DLC and Game Update.

Ok now on my to my main reasoning for posting this, should I keep the HD7770? The link I posted that GPU is no where near expensive for me. But would it work with the components I currently have? I would like to play some games at 1080p high settings, i'm sure I can in DCUO, just worried about other games. I doubt I'll ever get into any intensity high type games that require good builds. Also this pc is not just for gaming. Just for experience and my photoshop!

Items I had for 2yrs, excluding the GPU

Saphhire HD7770 GHz edition - 90$
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus $30
CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB - $40
NZXT Phantom PHAN-001BK Black Steel / Plastic Enthusiast ATX Full Tower Computer Case - $110
CORSAIR Enthusiast Series TX750 V2 750W ATX12V - $89
ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3- $110
i5 2500k - $180

Return the GPU, get a gtx 760 or higher. The 760 alone will run games like BF4 on ultra. With your PSU you might even be able to add another 760 later without having to upp the PSU =).

Thanks for the reply BnG. But what do you think of this build overall? Think all I need to change is my GPU?

Not really. The items you have are quite good. The PSU is a bit OP for your setup atm though. Although it would be a waste by replacing it with a less powerful one ;) .

I'd say buy the gtx 760 and add another one later on. If you buy the 770, you will probably need an 850w PSU.

Your 2500k is still a beast of a CPU. Arguable the best one for OC.

Your case is one of my personal favorites ;) . Although, I'm not buying it because of the airflow. I've been told the case is more for watercooled systems and the carbide 500r has much better airflow in general.

The 760 would be better. But its hardly worth the effort to return.
You could complete the build with it and upgrade after its running or just use it as a spare.

Honestly anything under $100 is hardly worth returning

Thanks man! That made me a bit happy knowing I chose some decent parts :D  As smeezekity said, it's not worth the effort, may just wait to buy the 760. Going to talk to customer support some more and see for more details since I got my shipping label ready and stuff.

Very true, I may just keep it and upgrade later. Just ready to start building my pc, need a good monitor for 1080p, I can search the rest of the forums for Keyboard/mouse.

Keyboard: are you on a budget? I have the Sharkoon Skiller which is <20$ and it is absolutely amazing. Surely the best budget keyboard which is definately suitable for gaming for a low price =).
Mouse: I have a Razer one, nice quality, but you won't need a mouse with 100000+ DPI :p . Mine is set at 450 DPI / 1000hz and if I set it a bit higher my mouse will fly over my 24 inch screen without letting me control it properly. Don't go for DPI, go for quality ;) .

Nope, was when I first started. But I got a 2nd job, so I have extra cash to buy what I want. I'll look into those, what's a good monitor you'd recommend? I was looking at this one for awhile : http://www.amazon.com/Asus-VS248H-P-24-Inch-Full-HD-Mon... The reviews got me with mixed feelings lol

I have exactly the same monitor, but I think mine is without the "p". I really like it and is definately worth the money ;) . Controls are easy + you get the extra feature of changing your "modes" (different color blends) to your liking. "Modes" are for example, theather mode, scenery mode, gaming mode etc. Might not change a whole lot, but it is definately fun ;) .

PS: The gaming mode actually works lol. It focusses the light to the center of your screen lighting up dark parts. You don't notice it while browsing the web ;) .

I use that exact same monitor now, including the P at the end. :3

It's okay for the price. The color accuracy and viewing angles could be a lot better, but that's a universal downside of relatively inexpensive TN panels.
I found that it helped the colors a lot to set video input on HDMI from RGB to YCbCr444.

I've also found that the Theater Preset works well for games, and that the Game Preset looks like oversaturated faded garbage, though that may be different on different video cards. Possibly.

Anyway, it's an okay monitor, but I would strongly recommend an IPS panel, even if you have to cut the size by an inch or two to accomplish it.

Personally I don't really notice the viewing angle a lot as it is right in front of me. For the gaming mode, I totally agree on the fact that theather mode looks better in general, but I was more noting the light effect it had.
Example: I used to play Minecraft quite a bit and while in dark spots I couldn't see anything. With the gaming mode on everything became visable (even in caves without torches). For watching video's etc, recommend the scenery of theather mode ;) .

Well... To be fair, you're really not supposed to see in caves in Minecraft without torches. The same result could be achieved by lowering the contrast and increasing the gamma, which I suspect is exactly what they did.

I know that I should actually use torches, but why not save yourself some room in your bag by just applying gaming mode? ;) . For games like BF4 gaming mode might look a bit dull compared to theather and scenery mode.

EVGA is good, but gigabyte is better in this case (my opinion). The cooler is better + it can OC higher =). Choose what you think is best, Evga is also a great brand though!

BnG, you're awesome for always replying to my post :D  I still have time to decide, ordering tonight, but I do like to go along with the reviews of a product, so may look in the gigabyte. First build, so haven't made a favorite yet.

It's worth noting, EVGA has great customer service. My brother bought a 2GB GTX 670 from EVGA, and when it didn't work they offered to replace it with a 4GB GTX 670 FTW for no extra cost.

He turned it down because it was actually his power supply that was going bad. He had to just get a refund and go with a 560+PSU because he couldn't afford a 670+PSU.

But the point is, EVGA has great customer service and will fully replace and upgrade your card if you even suspect it's DOA.

Thank you =).

Also, I can't comment on the customer service of gigabyte because my Gigabyte GTX 670 hasn't failed yet =). Personally I prefer performance over customer service, but that you will have to decide for yourself.

If you are not planning on OC, the EVGA will be about the same qua performance. You won't notice a 20 fps difference because you went with EVGA.

So why am I promoting Gigabyte and not EVGA?
Well:
- Gigabyte has the best cooler (not only useful for OC'ing but also very quiet).
- Gigabyte has the highest clock rate.

The only EVGA gtx 760 that might oké compared to the Gigabyte is the EVGA GTX 760 Superclocked (but that one is more expensive compared to the Gigabyte).

It might look like me being a Gigabyte fanboy, but trust me, I'm just looking at the facts =). And don't get me wrong, EVGA is also a top of the line brand when it comes to GPU's !

Well hello again guys, I ordered my last 4 components to complete the build Friday. They will be in this Wednesday. I went with the GTX 760 acx, was going to get the SC version since both was the same price, but next day it was back to $10 more. Checked today, SC version is back at $249, why is amazon doing this lol But oh well, went with the non-sc. Hoping everything goes well with my build. By the way , how likely is something to be DOA? I hope chances are low, really don't want to go through anymore returns and shipping bull.

It's incredibly rare.
I've never even had a DOA part. Neither has my brother (because as mentioned, it was his cheap PSU that was failing to power the 670, the video card itself was fine).

Doesn't happen often. May seem like it happens often because a lot of people seek for help on the internet :p . And if it happens, you still got the warranty =).

Awesome! That relieved my worries a bit. I just hope I'm not one of them. Wish they could have came in on my 2 off days. But I know soon as I get home from work Wednesday, locking myself in the room and getting to work.

Also I went with this monitor http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ANKMNXO/ref=oh_deta.... Gaming on a non-gaming pc for the past few years, which is 20", I won't notice the difference between a 23 or 24, since I've never had neither. Had great reviews, and the price is ok.

The monitor looks pretty good (1ms+full HD). Mine is the Asus VS247H and I'm very happy with it. The one you are buying will also serve you well :p .
