Hi folks,

My son's been hampering me that he can't play ANY game with his rig...

Core2Duo 1.8 E4300
MB Intel D945GCCR
2GB DDR2 266MHz
Geforce 8400GS 256MB
150GB sata HDD

He's been begging me for a graphic card upgrade and unfortunately I'm unemployed at the moment and money is tight and I can't afford anything above 60$. so I was wondering if you guys can just name a card or two which I should buy my kid, also should I get him an additional 2GB of ram? would that make any difference to this old system?

I thank you all in advance.

Bob.

Depending on the games your son plays, upgrading the video card might not do anything. Some games requires a fast CPU, and if what he plays requires more CPU horsepower than what the system has, that is $60 wasted.

At any rate, assuming what he plays doesn't require too much CPU horsepower, I echo ak47jar3d's recommendation of a r7 240.

Try searching on ebay for an used graphic card, you will get something better then a R7 240 there:

it seems that the best your CPU can handle is a GT 640 or a HD 6670.

They have similar performance in most games, but sometimes GT 640 have mutch better performance:

What power supply do you have?

About RAM; get more if you can (search for used ones).
