Intel is currently the standard in CPUs. They are expensive but their quality is unbeatable. That is not what we are talking about though. AMD is knows for quantity while Intel is more quality based. And the saying is true for the CPU industry. "Quality over Quantity." But do you think AMD can become the new best. Wipe intel off the map as intel has done to AMD. Reclaim their throne as the best? DO YOU THINK AMD CAN SOMEDAY CRUSH INTEL???

To be honest though with the new haswell-e reveal with its 8 cores and DDR4 it might be a while. But it can happen.

No probably not, but they can get a lot better, and they are headed in the right direction albeit slowly.

I would rather them produce a 65w six or eight core cpu that's rated @ 3.0ghz and performs as such than release a 125w six or eight core cpu that's rated @ 4.0-5.0ghz and performs like it's 3.0ghz. They REALLY need to work on efficiency. That's there biggest issue IMO.

It would take a massive screw up on Intel's part for AMD to get ahead at this point in terms of CPU performance. Intel would have to do something stupid like bring back Netburst and start the GHz race all over again, kind of like what AMD is doing now, where marketing seems to be making their engineering decisions (moar cores! moar GHz!).

AMD has all but given up on competing for performance anyway, all they're churning out now are APUs that have good integrated graphics cores, but rather poor CPU performance. The best AMD can hope for is to carve a niche out for themselves in the laptop and tablet market, and hope the Xbox One and PS4 sell a lot of units.
