Any military guys/gals here-- have a weird-ish question?

So.. I have this Army jacket someone got me at a yard sale-- it's a legit camo US military jacket (I think it's UN..?). I like the jacket. It's really warm.. plus dark green is just my favorite color.. But. I feel kinda weird wearing it. I feel like I am kind of a poser with it on. Is it weird or disrespectful or funny to see a civilian sporting an army jacket and blue jeans? Or is it pretty much all in my head?? Sounds insecure and strange, sure... but it's an honest question. I'd appreciate any and all feedback from someone who is/has served in the military-- or.. well anyone, really I guess. Thanks very much!

If you like it, you should wear it. It's not like you're walking around in a medal of honor you didn't earn.

I see no reason why it's a problem as long as you don't go around claiming or implying that you were in the military.

Cool. Yeah I just feel strange wearing the jacket. It's not that I'd imply I was military- but it's not the 80s, people don't wear all white for nothing or military boots or jackets for nothing like before. (not that I was of age in the 80s). It feels like most would assume though a person was military if they were wearing the gear. My eyes are certainly dark enough. Silly.. but it just feels weird. And i love wearing the jacket. One other example would be.. it'd be strange for a hearing impaired person to sport a stethoscope to a coffee shop in lieu of a hearing aid. Or.. a bespectacled person wouldn't put on a sherlock holmes monocle piece, lol, visiting a shop popular with the local cops. (strange examples.. but you get the point, it's late, my next move is to hit the power button on this machine and doze off...)

I see where you're coming from, but I think of it this way. If the military opens up military surplus stores for the general public to buy (it's for a profit), then the military and its personnel shouldn't have any problems with people using what they paid for. As far as looking out of place, anyone who criticizes you or judges you for what you're fashion sense (unless it's a shirt with dead babies or something) is being pretty judgmental & intolerant. I'd avoid giving creepy stares to people and avoid the hobo facial hair look though. lol

I never really cared what people think of my clothes or look. I wear what I feel comfortable and don't give a f*** if somebody has a problem with it. This makes my life a bit simpler.
