Connect PS2 to computer monitor?

Hi I'm not sure if this is the correct place to be asking this question, so I'm hoping it is.

I was just wondering about how to connect a playstation 2 to a computer monitor. I have an old monitor and ps2 sitting around so I figured why not. Anyway, would simply using one of these work? I'm kinda confused because I haven't been able to find a solid answer on this.

most likely not, found this info but requires buying a separate piece and the monitor needs hdmi input. just get an old cheap tv on craigslist or a pawn shop.
