Why do I need motherboard drivers

So my sound and network adapter work fine, why do I need to install drivers for these things? especially the sound driver, all it seems to do is add a program which allows me to add things like reverb to my sound... everything is working do I really need drivers?

(I will install graphics drivers)

My motherboard is GA-Z77-DS3H rev 1.1 running windows 8.1 N

You need drivers for your hardware to work properly. Sometimes if you don't have your audio drivers, you won't have any audio at all.

You will get more and better functions with the MB drivers. The drivers are designed so that you get more out of the MB functions. So that everything will work properly. As an example, without drivers the USB 3.0 ports will not function right and sometimes not at all. And you will get better speeds from the USB 2.0 ports when the chipset driver is installed.
