You jsut got your system and already you're talking about upgrading? You should return it and get a new proper PC that satisfies your needs.

I also think it's a waste of money to change the CPU and graphics card, especially since you just got it.

My suggestion is to sock that money away and buy a G-Sync monitor once prices drop a bit. That will make games run very smooth.

In the meantime, I recommend learning how to TWEAK your games properly to get the best experience which MOST gamers don't understand. In general, tweak to one of the following depending on the game:

a) VSYNC ON (force Adaptive VSync for most games in NVidia Control Panel):
- run FRAPS, turn VSYNC OFF, then tweak to maintain 60FPS about 90% of the time, then force on Adaptive VSync

b) VSYNC OFF (less lag, but screen tearing which can be severe):
- simply run FRAPS and tweak to the proper frame rate (i.e. 40FPS average)
- another method is to use GeForce Experience for supported games, apply the profile, but then disable VSYNC

Not sure what NVidia was thinking so far with GeForce Experience. The games are tested and tweaked to maintain 40FPS which seems a good idea, but they don't disable VSync. That's odd because they previously created Adaptive VSync to solve the issue of running below 60FPS (or whatever the monitor refresh rate is) with VSYNC ON.

Again, do NOT run a game with VSYNC ON if you can't maintain the target refresh/FPS. It causes a quick stutter due to the mismatch. In Assassin's Creed Brotherhood my game kept toggling between being really smooth (especially when panning around) to stuttering quickly when it couldn't maintain 60FPS.

I then force Adaptive VSync, and played with the quality settings until screen tearing happened rarely.

Update: Here's Linus' comments:

In particular:
"Holy crap does it ever make a big difference. I'd rather play 50FPS with G-Sync than 80FPS with tearing from what I saw. Seriously.."

Hopefully 1080p monitors will drop to $300 in the next year. It's coming soon but as with any new technology prices start high. The price premium vs similar monitors should drop to $50 at some point.

Keep the processor. It's good enough to game on.
