I've decided to build my first computer for school/surfing the web. This will be my first build. I want it to be as fast as possible but, don't want to pay a ridiculous amount of money for it. I would appreciate some help deciding on what components I need. I'm also on about a $900 budget.

900 for a machine that you just want to quickly surf the web... that's easy!
Heck, you'll be well under $500. I'll give you the outline, you can surf newegg for the deals you need...

but basically an AMD FX4300 quad core 4.0ghz. - $100
8gb ddr3 1600 ram (2x4gb) - $60
1tb Western Digital Hard Drive - $60
Raidmax case - $30 to $60
AM3+ motherboard, ATX size, whatever is on sale - you dont need all the Overclocking features or special gaming stuff - $60
dvd-rw - $20
Some kind of cheapo GPU - like a gt620 for $40, will easily render any 1080p video
windows 7 64bit OS - $90.
Most colleges have an agreement with Microsoft, so you'd probably get a free copy of win 7/8 thru school

Will that be fast enough? I don't mind spending the extra money to get quality parts.
