I was wondering why, although the Core i7-980x is nearly 5 years old, it's still in demand enough to garner $300-$400 in used condition on eBay? That's more than the new cost of a Core i7-4770. Even when I look at the passmark.com benchmarks it scores lower then the 4770 by 10%. Why are people still forking out so much cash for these processors?
With that question posed... I have three 5 year old Core i7-980x CAD workstations. I was planning on upgrading the MB, CPU, Video and RAM. Would I be better off keeping the 980x or selling it in order to upgrade to a Haswell 4770?
