dvd will not write, also says I have a blank disk but I know it is not

try to write to blank disc "message I receive is insert blank disk". if I insert a disk that I know has files on message I get back is "Blank Disk"

Try cleaning the laser lens with a proprietary cleaning disc, or if it's a laptop (where the laser lens is usually visible/accessible) try cleaning it very gently with a clean, slightly moistened cotton bud, but do not use any chemicals!
