I would like to build a gaming PC for under $500 that can run both Battlefield 4 and DayZ, for under $500. I don't care what it looks like, I just need it to do the job. I'm ok with a price like "$501" or something like that, but it has to be in Australian currency if possible.

Solution
Go with used hardware that you buy of someone else a mobo of 60 dollar, i5 3450 of 120 dollar, case of 40, GPU (7870 or GTX 660) = 110 dollar
SSD 64GB 40 dollar, PSU (500 watt) 40 dollar, DVD-rewriter disc 15 dollar, 8Gb ddr3-1600Mhz 60 dollar. and the rest on fans, processor-fan.

Ok thanks. So what should I focus most of my money on? At the moment, I've been looking at PC Part Picker online and trying to build a computer, and I do the CPU, Graphics card and monitor last because they're usually the most costly parts. Is this a good way to do it?

Edit:
I also have just remembered that there is a computer store next to my Dad's work and they throw out things every now and then. I might be able to save $40 on a case or something like that...

CPU AMD A4-5300 3.4GHz Dual-Core $55.00
Motherboard ASRock FM2A55M-HD+ Micro ATX FM2+ $62.00
Memory GeIL DRAGON 4GB (1 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 $45.00
Storage Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB 3.5" 7200RPM $59.00
Case Cooler Master K280 ATX Mid Tower $49.00
Power Supply Silverstone 500W ATX12V $59.00
Optical Drive LG GH24NSB0 DVD/CD Writer $21.00
Operating System Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (OEM) (64-bit) $115.00
Monitor AOC E2260SWDN 21.5" $135.00
Keyboard Gigabyte GK-KM6150 w/Optical Mouse $12.00
Total: $612.00

this is litterally the cheapest i could possibly build (well, coulda gone $4 cheaper for a smaller hdd). honestly, either save more money, buy something used, or be satisfied with bf4 on lowest settings at like 15-25 fps :/
