I feel like the fx 8350 wasn't given any real fair reviews other than Tek Syndicate's review. So, what I want to do is start an on going thread where I benchmark my system in a slew of games with my cpu now having the most updated scheduler and cpu cores unparked as I just recently update my OS to windows 8.1 from windows 8. I see that windows 8.1 has CPU core parking disabled by default now.

Current specs:
FX 8350 @ 4.5 ghz
AsRock Fatal1ty 990fx
16 GB Gskill Ripjaws @ 1600
Asus Direct CUii GTX 780 (337.50)
Kingston Hyper X 3k 90 GB

Games I have:
BF4
BF3
Titanfall
FarCry 3
FarCry 3 Blood Dragon
The Witcher 2
Metro 2033
Hitman Absolution
Tomb Raider
CS:GO
TF2
L4D2
Borderlands 2
Diablo 3
Guild Wars 2
Rift (although I haven't played in a while)
Neverwinter (although I haven't played a while)

So, What I would like is for people to post which games they would like to see benched first. If the game doesn't have a benching tool, I will have to come up with a methodology for benching.

Results so far:
BF4 Max settings Parcel Storm (one of the most demanding bf4 maps): min- 65 ($hit was blowing up in my face at B) Max- 117 Median range- 77-95 Avg- ~90
Here is some crappy gameplay footage (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SpycIwZ4rdc) i lost about 5-10 fps while recording.

BF3 Max settings Seine Crossing: Min - 80 Max- 140 Median range- 95-105 Avg - ~110

L4D2 Max Settings x8 MSAA: Min - 132 Max- 300 (caps itself) Median range- all over the place Avg- ~170

CS:GO Max Settings x8 MSAA: Min - 211 Max - 300 (cap) Avg- 255

TF2: Max settings x8 MSAA: Min- 182 Max - 300 (cap) Avg- 241

Diablo 3: Max Settings Lvl 70 Rift: Min-26 (had 150+ monsters on screen with 4 players blasting them) Max - 197 Median- 70-110 Avg- 111
This game only used 20% of my cpu which is 1 and a half cores. I would be interested to see what an i7 could do in that situation

Guild Wars 2: Max Settings.. I mean MAX. WvWvW zerging + roaming in Eternal Battlegrounds: Min- 12 Max- 125 Median 35-60 Avg 68.5.
These were the exact same results that people with $1000 i7's were experiencing in wvwvw. CPU utilization was 50% showing that gw2 is in fact decently multithreaded. Here is a Video of zerging in IoJ BL (the keep i started in is bad on perf because of the snow and scale of the area.): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kyqb8C8gLF0&feature=youtu.be

Metro 2033: Benchmark tool: Max settings (except DoF and Physx)- Min- 11 (had 1 frame drop to that :/ other lowest was 26) Max- 163 Avg- 65.
Stinks that one frame stutter that i couldnt even catch with my eye got in there.

Hitman Absolution: Benchmark tool: Max settings - Min- 37 Max- 60(capped itself, i didnt have vsync) Avg- 46

Far Cry 3: Max Settings x8 MSAA - Min- 43 Max- 85 Avg - 64
Video here. fps loss was minimal, like 5 frames or so. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R51ieLehaxM

awesome!! I wanted to get some benching done this morning but I have been un-expectantly busy :/ I will post my finding as soon as I can. Now, when you say max settings, im assuming that was max msaa as well correct?

I'd like to see BF4 Multiplayer as well, 1080p ultra maxed out.

I don't think the Piledriver were as bad as people make them out to be. My original choice of CPU was the 8 core FX8350 but then people made it out to be AMD couldn't play anything....so I went Intel.

I couldn't afford to buy AMD, it end up not being what I wanted, and then having to then buy Intel.

HOWEVER, my bro's pc is a A10-5800k (Athlon x4 750k trinity) paired with 8gb ram 2133mhz and a EVGA Superclocked GTX 660ti 2gb and I HONESTLY can't tell any difference from his pc to my high powered one in any gameplay of his I've seen.

So, I don't think AMD is as bad as people make it out to seem.

I posted some updates last night

Standing in spawn isn't really a fair representation of actual FPS. With my 8320 @ 4.5 I used to get around 70-80 in mid fights on average, dropping into the 60s or below, sometimes around 100-120 with only a few other players present on screen.

I hate screen tearing so I always keep vsync on, is that why my i5 3570k overclocked with an hd7950 dips below 60fps on ultra on bf4?

I don't understand how yours did better than my cpu in bf4 multiplayer, I know the gtx 770 is a little better than the hd7950 but not by THAT much is it?

BF4 uses all 8 cores. The i5 doesn't have enough threads to keep up with the fx 8350. And no, you having vsync on is not the reason you drop below 60, as all vsync does is lock your max fps to match your monitor's capability (ie 60 fps on a 60 hz monitor)

The new Nvidia drivers are meant to reduce cpu overhead on some dx11 games along with the usual gpu optimizations. Basically their new drivers (Nvidia) are a response to AMD's Mantle API.

PS mantle worked wonders on my old set up, as I just replaced the 7950 with the gtx 780.

I see nothing blowing up on screen, nor do I see any people. That's not even at mid, that's next to spawn on badlands.

A printscreen would be far easier than a camera.

The i5 easily keeps up with an 8350, or betters it.

would you mind posting some stats and some specs to show this (or for goodness sake at least explain with a little logic) ? Instead of throwing out one liners like you invented it.

This thread isn't meant to be an intel vs AMD flaming fanboy thread. I want informative posts, preferably about the fx8350, but if you want to chime in with intel, please have some substance.
