Slow Wireless Network (200kbps)

I am in the uk and am through SKY for my broadband connection, when I am trying to download files from steam it takes days for one game since the mac speed is 260kbps. I know it's the problem with the router since it's slow on multiple devices and operating systems.
Wondering if anyone had any solutions?

KB/s or Kb/s? There's an 8x difference.

Does it run at the same speed if you connect via ethernet?

Most likely you've got a poor quality line or slow plan, and there's nothing wrong with the router.

What type of connection? Cable, DSL, fibre, cellular?

It's a DSL and the plans unlimited and costs around £100 / A month and my laptop does not have ethernet

Do you know how far you are from the exchange/cabinet? Also, can you log into the router's config page and get the rate, attenuation, and errors?

I'm picking you're just a long way from the DSLAM.
