so i am thinking of getting into PC gaming and i have a 6 year old HPL1706 monitor that has a max resolution of 1280x1024. Will it be able to play a game like battlefield at 1080p? The PC i am planning on getting has an AMD R9 270X. should i go out and buy a new monitor playing games at 1080 medium to high settings or stick with my current monitor and play games at 720p or higher at high to ultra settings
thank you very much for the help

Solution
1280x1024 of course. The R9 270x should give you very high performance on that resolution. However, to reap the true benefits of your GPU, it's recommended you get a 1920x1080(1080p) monitor.

On a game like battlefield 4 is there a 1280x1024 resolution and if there is will the image quality be very noticeable when compared to 1920x1080
thank you for the help

thank you very much :)

You're welcome.

BTW what kind of PC are you getting? Are you building it yourself or buying it readymade or buying parts and paying someone to build it for you?
I'd recommend against the second option as the 'on sale killer deal' PC's you get on best buy are not a very good investment. It depends on the parts, though.
The first option is obviously the best, as you don't have a lot of overhead, and the third option is when you don't have confidence in building yourself.
