I can't get my LG monitor to display 1080p

Hi guys, I just bought a new monitor (actually it functions as a TV as well) but I can't get it to display 1080p output despite the fact that the product page says its a full HD monitor- http://www.220-electronics.com/lg-24mn42a-24-multisystem-led-tv.html

I tried with HDMI cable from my GPU's graphics card slot and the recommended resolution (as said by Windows) for the monitor was 1366X768p. I turned it up to 1080p from settings and the screen looked very blurry and there were black bars around the desktop (which probbaly means that the 768p was being stretched to 1080p).

I tried reconnecting my old 1080p Samsung monitor again (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824001385) and the desktop and games were running at a crisp 1080p again and the recommended resolution read 1080p from Windows settings. have I been scammed or is there any way to fix this. Thanks in advance.

I can tell you that you're not being scammed since LG's website also says "FULL HD RESOLUTION"

and yes, this monitor/tv has 1080p.. in video/HDMI

but in pc/analog it only has 1366x768p

Under "Resolution" and "special feature" you can see the 1366x768p.


It also says 1366x768p in the bottom of the shops site under "Resolution".

You should look on the internet in how you can trick your monitor into thinking its hooked up to something valid of the 1080p signal. It's possible you can still get a 1080p signal from this monitor with some efford.


Sorry for the bad news, i dont know if you can still send it back.

Ah well, should have been more thorough on my research before buying this, I suppose. Thanks so much for clearing up the confusion. Is it possible you have any leads on how I can "trick: my monitor into thinking its connected to something valid of the 1080p signal. Thanks again.

Yeah, I somehow missed that... It probably means your monitor can take in a 1080p signal, but only has 1366 x 768 pixels and the image is downscaled. Otherwise why wouldn't it allow the D-sub/VGA input to display 1080p...

I see. Well it seems I wasted my cash in this. Hopefully, I can sell it on our eBay equivalent over here in Bangladesh.
