Hello my PC keeps randomly locking up sometimes I can play a game for 4-5 hours and then suddenly it freezes other times a few minutes. When it freezes I only have the option of force restarting (holding the power button)

My PC was built by me and a friend, I've tried reformatting, disabling nvidia audio driver, disabling all boot services. My GPU temp stays below 51 when running games on high/ultra. I've tried using precision to take down the power by 10% but it did nothing. The nvidia driver I'm using is the one that came with the GPU itself, I've tried the latest driver and nothing changed.

This morning until about 4pm my pc run perfectly, I went for dinner came back up and it was frozen and is now freezing every few minutes (30-45mins)

I've tried windows memory diagnostic and tried the memory switch that comes with my motherboard and it reports it as fine.

AMD FX 9590 4.7GHz Socket AM3+ 8MB L3 Cache Processor

Asus sabretooth fx990 fx motherboard R2

EVGA GTX 770 SuperClocked with ACX Cooler 2GB GDDR5

Corsair Vengeance Pro 16gb (2 X 8gb) Memory Kit Pc3-17066 2133mhz Ddr3 Dram Unbuffered (sliver)

Lastest nvidia driver 335.23

Aerocool Strike-X 800W Modular 80+ Silver PSU

Not sure what to do, I finally have two weeks off college and now I can't even enjoy games.

I'm using the optimal bios settings if that makes a difference, I tried normal and still locked up.

I've tried different RAM and it still happens, I also tried defragging and I played for a few hours before locking up again.

i suggest launching performance monitor and monitoring your memory for hard page faults. i think that's my issue and could be yours. watching the page input/sec and page reads/sec are most important as they indicate hard faults in the memory and or a bottleneck in the memory. page inputs/sec(hardfaults) shouldnt exceed 15 on average and page reads/sec shouldnt exceed 5 page reads/sec(bottleneck)

Hi

In the power options, if you disable all the power saving options and set minimum processor state to 100% and maximum processor state 100%, i was able to reduce some of the issues.

Hope it helps.

My solution was to change the cpu for a lower powered one.
